Relief Or Resolution?
While it is true that most people come through our doors looking to alleviate some sort of pain, problem or discomfort, many also want to know if steps can be taken to resolve the underlying problem.
It makes good sense sometimes to think about the “bigger picture” and to ask the following questions:
Now that I feel better, how do I stay pain-free and avoid future recurrences?
When the pain is gone, is the problem really gone?
Is this problem potentially solvable and how do I do that?
What will this be like in a few years if I don’t address and resolve this issue properly?
Can regular upkeep help me to feel well, function well, and stay out of trouble?
A good rule of thumb is that if you have had a pain or problem for many months, or even years, then realistically it may take a few months of steady work to help your body shift that pattern and to find a new and more sustainable way functioning. The good news is that most bodies can achieve this. It takes a bit of time and commitment but the long-term benefits are usually well worth the effort. We go through this with you on your First Visit, so you can decide what your goals are, what approach will suit you best, and what sort of longer-term outcome it is you want to achieve.
Goal-based treatment planning
At GB Chiropractic, we use goal-based treatment planning to match up what you want to achieve with the correct course of care to achieve that desired outcome. In doing so, we apply natural laws of neurology, adaptation, tissue healing, and functional patterning. The idea is to agree on a realistic and reliable approach that gives you an excellent chance of achieving the recovery you want and the health goals you’ve set.
Where the long-term resolution of a problem is a key goal, we will help to structure a treatment program that offers you the best chance for success.
What if I’ve been unsuccessful in the past?
Even if you’ve tried to resolve a problem before and failed, we can usually help to determine why previous attempts were not successful. We often find the past approach may not have been optimal for the desired outcome or there were unaddressed factors that caused regression or recurrence. Sometimes all that is needed is a fresh approach, a change in understanding and mindset, and some renewed enthusiasm toward achieving a better outcome. Don’t worry, we can help you with this.
What if previous chiropractic care did not work for me?
Chiropractic is a rather diverse profession. There are numerous techniques and each chiropractor you come across may have a different set of skills, experience, and know-how. Likewise, highly experienced chiropractors have many years (often decades) of honing their skills to become great doctors, adjusters, and healers. And so it is often said that no two chiropractors are alike. A different chiropractor may certainly lead to a different experience and a different result. This means that if a previous course of chiropractic treatment did not seem as helpful as you had hoped, then it may just be that you needed to find another chiropractor; one who is better suited to you and your problem, and one who can help unlock your potential to get the most from chiropractic care.
At GB Chiropractic, we have highly experienced chiropractors who are outstanding in their field. We are confident we have one who can help you. Feel free to contact us if you would like discuss which of our chiropractors might be the best fit for you and your particular issue.
