Dr Bryan Thirsk

Chiropractor

BA Hons, MBA, DC

Owner and founder of GB Chiropractic, Bryan is now in his 25th year of practice as a chiropractor. Originally from Canada, Bryan has an honours degree in health and sport sciences and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the renowned CMCC chiropractic college in Toronto. After a few years practising in Canada, Bryan made the leap overseas to Ireland, where he ran a leading chiropractic health centre in the city of Cork. In 2012, he moved to Cambridge UK where he took a short career break to complete a masters degree in business (MBA) at Cambridge University. Following a one year sabbatical in Calgary, Bryan then returned to the UK in 2015 and settled in Putney with his wife Carla, two dogs and three cats.

Bryan is a highly experienced chiropractor in all areas of family practice. He also has a specialised background and passion for helping some of the world’s top athletes recover from injury and achieve optimal sports performance. Bryan is experienced with patients of all ages and stages, from young children to the elderly. It is not unusual to find Bryan adjusting a baby one moment and a professional rugby player the next.

Bryan blends advanced expertise in spinal, pelvic, and extremity adjusting, and incorporates leading techniques in myofascial release and functional neurology. He has additional specialised training in chiropractic paediatrics (ICPA), pregnancy and perinatal care, sports chiropractic, rehabilitative sciences, gait assessment, biomechanics and clinical nutrition. Early in his career, Bryan gained immense experience in rehabilitation settings, where he learned the vital importance of using structured treatment approaches for achieving optimal recovery and successful outcomes. Bryan believes that pain relief is only the first step in the patient journey, and that chiropractic’s primary purpose is to restore function and balance to injured areas, as well as to the nervous system and body in general.

Bryan is passionate about all things business. He believes in constantly evolving and optimising the healthcare model and that companies should do good business, give back to their communities, and be a force for positive change in the world.

Outside of clinic, Bryan is an avid athlete and sportsman. A former semi-pro footballer, Bryan retired from footy in 2008 and went back to his earlier roots of playing high level ice and inline hockey. A Cambridge Light Blue ice hockey player, Bryan was also a leading member of Team GB’s Masters Inline Hockey Team from 2014-2019 where he competed for Great Britain at numerous World Championships. Still actively playing ice hockey at an elite level, Bryan also likes to run, golf, hike and travel in his spare time. Closer to home, you might find him cuddling pugs and Burmese cats, while honing his barbecue skills in the garden when sunny skies permit.
