Private Health Insurance

Many people have coverage for chiropractic care through their private health insurance. Some people don’t even realise they have this coverage, so it is always worth checking with your insurer to see if your health insurance policy covers chiropractic, and to what extent.

We work with most major healthcare insurers in UK, and many of the smaller ones, to provide chiropractic services to their clients. This includes BUPA, AXA Health, Vitality, Aviva, Simply Health, PPP / WPA, Cigna, Helix and HealthShield.

Some insurance companies allow self-referral, where you can simply call them to obtain the necessary authorisation and codes. However, a few insurance companies will require you to get a GP referral, in which case you must contact your local GP to make them aware of your problem and to ask them for the referral for chiropractic. Most GPs are happy to help with this, so don’t hesitate to ask them if it means unlocking the coverage you have to get the chiropractic care you need!

Most insurance companies will provide you with either a case number or an authorisation code, which you then provide to us at the time of your First Visit. It is always a good idea to check the amount and terms of your chiropractic coverage, as well as any limitations your policy may have regarding the number of treatment sessions they cover or a financial limit per year.

  • We work closely with BUPA to provide chiropractic care to their clients. All of our chiropractors at GB Chiropractic are fully BUPA-registered. BUPA will usually require you to get a GP referral and will then provide you with an authorisation code for the first 5-6 chiropractic visits. Once these sessions are used, we can submit a continuation form to BUPA asking for further sessions in line with the nature of your problem and the care you require to get better. We direct bill with BUPA, so our BUPA patients can just arrive, relax, and get the care they need to feel better fast.

  • We are AXA registered, so our AXA patients can make the most of their chiropractic coverage. With AXA, you will usually need to contact them directly to get an authorisation code, which will often cover up to 10 or 20 chiropractic visits depending on your policy. For many, this allows you to get the care you need to feel better and recover quickly. Where additional care is needed, we can submit the required AXA form to request further treatment so that you can continue toward a full resolution of your issue. We will provide invoices to you for AXA reimbursement, and for some we can now direct bill to AXA.

  • All of our chiropractors are registered with Vitality Health. You will need to check your Vitality policy to see if it covers chiropractic and to what extent. If you do have cover, Vitality can provide you with an authorisation code, which will often cover your first 5-8 chiropractic visits.  If you need more than this, we can submit the required form to Vitality. As with most UK insurers, you would pay us at the time of your chiropractic visits, and we will provide you with the invoices you need to submit for reimbursement with Vitality.

Other Insurers

We work with most other UK and international health insurance companies. So if you think you have coverage for chiropractic care, we urge you to call your insurer to find out what is involved and what they need to approve your chiropractic care. With most insurers, you would pay us at the time of your chiropractic visits, and we would then provide you with the invoices you need to submit for reimbursement.
